Halloween costumes, canal boat rides and a visit from Boomer will bring a festive feel to downtown Indianapolis on Saturday, October 24, when the Indianapolis Cultural Trail hosts Trail & Treat on the Canal. Running from 5 to 7 p.m., the free, family-friendly event invites visitors to spend an evening exploring activities along the Downtown Canal.
The waterfront celebration brings together local attractions, performers and community organizations for a mix of Halloween entertainment and seasonal experiences. Families can enjoy mini canal boat rides with Old World Gondoliers, catch a Kids Concert with Mr. Daniel, and watch Funnie & Friends create balloon animals.
For those ready to show off their Halloween looks, a 360-degree costume camera experience powered by the PNC Foundation offers a playful way to capture the evening. Basketball fans can also meet Boomer and stop by the Indiana Pacers Fan Van.
The lineup includes a Día de Muertos Community Celebration at the Eiteljorg Museum, adding a cultural experience to the evening’s activities.
Along the Canal, families will find interactive offerings from The Nest Play Cafe, White River State Park, Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis Fire Department, Indiana Sports Corp., Hampton Inn & Homewood Suites, and other community partners. With music, activities and familiar local organizations participating, the event gives families plenty to discover as they explore the waterfront.
Trail & Treat reflects the Indianapolis Cultural Trail’s mission to create accessible connections and cultural experiences throughout the city. In addition to caring for the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick, the nonprofit manages Pacers Bikeshare and public destinations along and connected by the Trail in partnership with the City of Indianapolis.
For families planning their Halloween weekend, Trail & Treat offers an easy addition to the calendar: two hours of free seasonal fun in the heart of downtown. Bring your costumes, gather the family and head to the Canal for an evening of music, community and Halloween spirit.
