August 1 through October 24, Saturdays from 12:30 to 2:30pm. Young writers will work alongside professional artists to create original, spooky vignettes full of mystery, mischief, and imagination. Their work will be brought to life on the C.H. Douglas & Gray Wealth Management Stage in a special performance on October 24.
We offer year-round classes, summer camps and special workshops. Registration is open for fall classes is open through October 3.
Offering workshops from beginner to advanced to develop and build upon the skills needed for musical theatre!
This class focuses on developing the technical and performance skills required for dance in musical theatre. Students will build foundational jazz technique, improve their ability to pick up and retain choreography quickly, and gain valuable performance and audition skills. Emphasis will be placed on style, musicality, and storytelling through movement. The class is designed to support both technical growth and performance confidence in a focused, engaging, and supportive environment.
This seven (7) week intermediate class is for people who have completed Improv Level 1, or who have a limited amount of experience with improvisation. The focus of this class will be on creating and sustaining improvised scenes. It will also further explore improvising characters, status, and environment, as well as introducing new performance-level games. As we believe that audience feedback is one of the best ways to learn, this workshop will culminate in a final performance to which students may invite friends and family. The Halloween Theater Workshop will meet at Arts for Lawrence once per week, on Mondays from 9/14/2026 to 10/26/2026. Dates: 5:30pm - 7:30pm every Monday from September 14 through October 26 , September 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, and 26. Time: 5:30pm - 7:30pm every Monday. Intro to Stand-Up Comedy. This class will serve as both a look at the history and evolution of stand-up comedy and as a practical course that will cover joke mechanics and writing for stand-up as well as performance theory and practice. Over the course of the class, students will write and practice a five minute routine which they will perform for friends and family at the graduation show. Monday evenings – Sept. 14, 21, 28, Oct. 5, 2026 6-9PM. Graduation Performance – Friday, Oct. 9, 2026, 7:30-9:30PM. $200 (includes all 4 classes and Graduation Performance)
