Launching August 2026

Destination Indy is a coordinated, resident and visitor-focused initiative designed to strengthen awareness of arts, dining, and cultural experiences across Central Indiana.​

​

This launch represents a significant investment in the region's creative ecosystem --- bringing together digital media, print distribution, broadcast partnerships, and live experiences under one aligned effort.

​

Our goal is simple:​

  • To unify discovery.

  • To strengthen awareness.

  • To increase visibility for the organizations that shape our region's cultural life.​​​​​

Arts organizations, venues, and cultural leaders produce extraordinary work, but visibility is dispersed across disconnected channels. Discovery has remained inconsistent for residents, limiting overall awareness of local experiences.

​

Destination Indy was created to address this gap through coordinated visibility.

 

Destination Indy is first and foremost a platform for residents --- a single, trusted source to discover what's happening across Central Indiana. At the same time, it is built in collaboration with the organizations, venues, restaurants, and cultural leaders who shape the city's identity.

 

When visibility becomes unified, participation increases.

When participation increases, the entire ecosystem benefits.​​​​​​​

What We're Building.

Beginning August 2026, Destination Indy will launch a coordinated multimedia presence that includes:

  • ​A digital discovery hub.

  • A print publication distributed to 150,000 households across Central Indiana.

  • A weekly television program in partnership with WISH-TV/WNDY.

  • Signature live experiences, including the first annual Illuminate Indy: An Arts, Entertainment, & Dining Showcase hosted the Indiana State Fairgrounds on September 19th, 2026.

Leadership & Momentum

Destination Indy was founded by Indianapolis entrepreneurs Michael Schaefer & Joey Amato and is backed by significant private investment.

​

In 2026, former Newfields Vice President of Marketing & External Affairs, Jonathan Berger, joined the company as President to lead execution and growth ahead of launch.

 

With experienced leadership and multiple platforms rolling out in rapid succession, Destination Indy represents one of the most ambitious coordinated media efforts focused exclusively on Central Indiana's arts and cultural community.
