Get ready for an evening of nonstop laughter as The Play That Goes Wrong crashes onto the stage at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre beginning July 17. The award-winning comedy, celebrated around the world for its perfectly choreographed theatrical mayhem, will run through Aug. 23 with 46 performances that promise audiences one hilarious disaster after another.
This summer's production introduces four actors making their Beef & Boards debut, alongside several audience favorites returning to the stage for the wildly entertaining farce.
Center Grove High School graduate and Greenwood native Nic Nightingale makes his Beef & Boards debut as Chris Bean, the determined director of the ill-fated murder mystery at the center of the show. Joining him are fellow newcomers Topher Adam Embrey, who portrays leading man Robert Grove, Jesse Bhamrah as the unfortunate murder victim Jonathan Harris, and Kevin Toniazzo-Naughton as Trevor Watson, the easily distracted lighting and sound operator whose backstage mishaps add to the chaos.
Returning to Beef & Boards for this production are Cynthia Collins as Dennis Tyde, Logan Hill as the glamorous and self-absorbed Sandra Wilkinson, and Joey Boos as Max Bennett, an inexperienced performer making his own theatrical debut within the play.
The cast also features Nathalie Cruz as Annie Twilloil, with Jaddy Ciucci and Hannah Elizabeth Boswell completing the company as the hardworking onstage crew desperately trying to keep the production from completely falling apart.
Directed by Brett Mutter, who previously helmed Waitress, A Beef & Boards Christmas, A Christmas Story, and The Wizard of Oz, the production showcases the impeccable timing and physical comedy that have made The Play That Goes Wrong an international theatrical sensation.
The story follows the Cornley University Drama Society as they attempt to present a classic 1920s murder mystery titled The Murder at Haversham Manor. Unfortunately, virtually everything that can go wrong does. The leading lady is knocked unconscious, the corpse refuses to stay dead, scenery collapses, props malfunction, and actors stumble over everything—including their own lines. Despite one catastrophe after another, the determined cast presses on, creating an evening of laugh-out-loud entertainment that delights audiences of all ages.
As always, every ticket includes Beef & Boards' popular dinner buffet, featuring a variety of hot entrees, fresh salads, sides, and desserts available for purchase, along with complimentary coffee, tea, and lemonade. The combination of exceptional dining and live entertainment continues to make Beef & Boards one of Indianapolis' favorite destinations for a night out.
The Play That Goes Wrong is rated PG for mild adult themes and is an excellent choice for families with older children, date nights, or anyone who appreciates clever physical comedy and theatrical mishaps.
Tickets are available exclusively through Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Guests are encouraged to purchase directly from the box office or the official website, as tickets purchased through third-party sellers may not be valid and could include additional fees.
With performances running through Aug. 23, this delightfully disastrous comedy is expected to be one of the summer's hottest tickets. If you've ever wondered what would happen if absolutely everything went wrong during a live performance, this brilliantly executed comedy proves the results couldn't be more entertaining.
