Symphony on the Prairie

One of Central Indiana's most cherished summer traditions is back as the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra (ISO) launches the 44th season of Kroger Symphony on the Prairie on June 26 at Conner Prairie. Running through Labor Day weekend, the beloved outdoor concert series promises an unforgettable lineup of symphonic performances, tribute concerts, patriotic celebrations, family-friendly entertainment, and spectacular fireworks.

For more than four decades, Kroger Symphony on the Prairie has brought music lovers together under the stars, creating lasting summer memories for generations of Hoosiers.

"Kroger Symphony on the Prairie has become a defining summer tradition for generations of Hoosiers," said Sara Galer, Vice President of Marketing for the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. "As we celebrate our 44th season, we look forward to welcoming audiences back for unforgettable evenings of music and community."

The 2026 season opens June 26–27 with Face 2 Face: A Tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John, a high-energy concert celebrating two of popular music's greatest icons. Accompanied by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the performance features new symphonic arrangements by conductor David Baker, blending rock classics with the power of a full orchestra beneath the summer sky.

The celebration continues over Independence Day weekend with the Star-Spangled Symphony, commemorating America's 250th anniversary. Featuring the Indianapolis Opera Chorus, renowned tenor Jim Cornelison, and guest conductor Alfred Savia, the patriotic program concludes with Symphony on the Prairie's signature fireworks display and dramatic cannon finale.

Music fans can also look forward to an exciting variety of performances throughout the summer, including:

  • The Music of Star Wars

  • The Music of Earth, Wind & Fire

  • Yacht Rock Classics

  • Disney in Concert, featuring a special preshow Teddy Bear Concert Series performance

  • Let's Sing Sabrina & Harry

  • One Night of Queen

  • A Tribute to The Beatles
