The Harrison Center is seeking entries for a public art project at Oaks Academy Middle School, located on the historic School 26 campus. This campus has expanded to incorporate the site of the former King and King Funeral Home. The Oaks Academy seeks to honor that legacy. To be considered, entries must be artwork that incorporates the history and cultural significance of the King and King Funeral Home, its context, and impact. Open to artists who currently or previously lived in Indianapolis, submissions may be in any medium for interior or exterior spaces and must reflect the site’s history and cultural significance.
Submit JPEG images (finished or conceptual), along with images of past work and references, by Friday, January 30, 2026 to polklore@harrisoncenter.org.
One artist will be selected for a $10,000 award, with work to be completed and installed by October 31, 2026, and will include community engagement facilitated by the Harrison Center.
