Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. today announced the third annual Trail and Treat will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18th. This free, family-friendly trick-or-treat experience will take place along the Downtown Canal. A fan favorite event for families across Indianapolis, Trail and Treat is expected to draw thousands of attendees for an evening of costumes, candy, and community fun.

Trail and Treat provides a safe, well-lit trick-or-treat route. Participants are encouraged to walk, run, roll, or bike at their own pace along the roughly 1.5-mile route with multiple stops for collecting treats and activities, including:

  • kids concert with Mr. Daniel

  • photo opportunities with Indianapolis Colts Cheerleaders

  • free mini ‘Eerie’ Canal Boat rides with Old World Gondoliers

  • balloon animals from Funnie & Friends

Information and restrooms for Trail and Treat is located at the Colts Playspace, 701 Canal Walk. To access the Downtown Canal, take the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick to the Orange Bridge, just west of Senate Ave. Trail and Treat activities stretch from 11th Street to Vermont Street along the Downtown Canal.

“Trail and Treat provides a fun, family friendly atmosphere for people of all ages to come together and enjoy a community experience along the Cultural Trail at the Downtown Canal, one of the many beautiful public gathering places in downtown” said Kären Haley, Indianapolis Cultural Trail executive director.

There is no cost to participate in Trail and Treat, but registration is strongly encouraged. This event is open to participants of all ages and abilities as well as leashed, well-behaved dogs. In the case of inclement weather, Trail and Treat will be rescheduled for Saturday, October 25.

“We believe in the power of community and the importance of bringing families together through fun and meaningful experiences,” said Jason Eckerle, PNC regional president of central and southern Indiana. “This event is a wonderful way to showcase our historic Indianapolis Cultural Trail and the wonderful local businesses along the way as they greet our young costumed fans.”

Trail and Treat is powered by PNC and made possible through a partnership between Indianapolis Cultural Trail and the City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development. It is supported by a variety of community partners, organizations, and local businesses hosting stops along the route, including Black Leaf Vegan, Emma Donnan Elementary and Middle Schools, Fresco Italian Cafe, Hampton Inn and Homewood Suites, Health by Design, Indiana Historical Society, Indianapolis Colts, Sales AI, Speedway Cooperative Preschool, Summers Plumbing, Heating, & Cooling, and White River State Park.
