To usher in the fall season, Greenwood’s Parks & Recreation Department will host the city’s annual trick-or-treat event, Monster Mash, on Friday, Oct. 17 and first ever Halloween Fest on Saturday, Oct. 25.

“Fall is one of Greenwood’s most cherished seasons, bringing balmy weather, vibrant foliage, and Halloween-themed programming for residents and visitors to enjoy,” said Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers. “Our Parks and Recreation Department continues to provide exciting community events, from Monster Mash to the expansion of Halloween Fest, that create lasting memories for families, friends, and guests alike.”

Monster Mash will return to Craig Park from 6-8:30 p.m. and invite costumed attendees for trick-or-treating activities by the lawn, a hayride, music and more.

$10/person VIP wristbands are available online on a first-come, first-serve basis and can be picked up during the week of Oct. 14 at the Greenwood Fieldhouse. VIP access grants early admission from 4:30-6 p.m. and a free food voucher to any vendor on-site.

This event is free and open to the public from 6-8:30 p.m., and parking will be available at the corner of Meridian Street and Surina Way as well as the Craig Park parking lot off Smith Valley.

Greenwood’s Halloween Parade is expanding into the city’s first-ever Halloween Fest, promising exciting floats and community organizations as well as free programming at the Greenwood Amphitheater including live music, a kid zone, food and drinks, and fun contests.

Live music and entertainment at the amphitheater include:

·       1-3 p.m. – Jai Baker 3

·       3-3:30 – Costume competition and more Halloween fun

·       3:30-5:30 – Karma

Beginning at 12 p.m., residents and visitors of all ages are encouraged to wear costumes and line the streets for a parade of trick-or-treating. Decorated parade floats and participants will pass out candy to children along the streets through the heart of the city.

The parade will follow its traditional route, starting at Craig Park and heading north on Washington Street. From there, it will continue west on Main Street, turn south onto Madison Avenue, and finish by traveling east on Surina Way before returning to Craig Park.

“The Halloween Parade has always been a favorite in our community and expanding it into Halloween Fest gives families even more ways to enjoy the day together,” said Rob Taggart, Greenwood Parks and Recreation Director. “With new festivities and the traditional parade, the Halloween Fest will have something for everyone to enjoy.”

The parade map and parking details can be found online at the Halloween Fest event page.
