What if your therapist were funnier than you? Gayer than you? And completely unfiltered? That’s the deliciously chaotic premise behind HOMOTHERAPY, the hit live comedy-theatre experience from That Other Theatre Company, landing at the Brian Payne Theatre for three nights only on February 27–28 and March 1, 2026.
Fresh off a sold-out run at the Fringe Festival at The District, HOMOTHERAPY isn’t your typical sit-back-and-watch kind of show. It’s part stand-up, part group therapy, part anything-can-happen live event — and the audience is at the center of it all. Before the show even begins, attendees are invited to anonymously submit their most burning questions about love, sex, identity, family, fear, shame, terrible dates, and even worse decisions. Throughout the performance, the “therapists” — performers Jay Hemphill, Andrew Kramer, and Chris Saunders — pull questions at random and transform them into razor-sharp comedy, candid conversation, and moments of unexpected emotional truth.
No two performances are ever the same. Each night unfolds in real time, shaped by the audience in the room. That unpredictability is part of the thrill — you never quite know what will be asked, who will be lovingly roasted, or when a joke will take a surprisingly heartfelt turn. It’s bold, interactive, and laugh-out-loud funny, but there’s also something deeply relatable at its core: three sharp, quick-witted performers turning vulnerability into connection.
HOMOTHERAPY thrives in the space between humor and honesty, offering a communal experience that feels both wildly entertaining and strangely therapeutic. Whether you come for the queer brilliance, the unscripted audience interaction, or simply a night of smart, fearless comedy, this is not passive theatre. It’s live, electric, and rooted in the shared experience of being human — messy questions and all.
For Indianapolis audiences craving something fresh, fearless, and genuinely interactive, HOMOTHERAPY promises three unforgettable nights where laughter meets truth and the fourth wall doesn’t just break — it disappears.
