Art in Bloom presented by Fifth Third Private Bank will return to Newfields for the third annual celebration from March 23 through March 26. The IMA Galleries as well as Lilly House will be adorned with beautiful floral arrangements created by 38 local and regional florists, along with a display created by the Newfields Greenhouse team. Guests can see unique floral designs, listen to live music and partake in floral demonstrations all weekend long.
“Fifth Third Private Bank is thrilled to be partnering with a cornerstone arts organization like Newfields. Art in Bloom is a great example of their dedication to bringing art to life and making it accessible throughout any season. We’re looking forward to an incredible weekend filled with flowers as far as the eye can see!” said Nancy Martin, Managing Director, Fifth Third Private Bank.
The weekend will kick off with the Blooming Now: Art in Bloom Opening Reception on Wednesday, March 22. Guests at the reception will be the first to see the incredible floral displays for this year's exhibition while enjoying hors d'oeuvres and beverages from Newfields’ Culinary department. On Thursday, March 23 Newfields will host a special Art in Bloom Speaker Series presented by Bank of America featuring Teresa J. Speight author of Black Flora: Profiles of Inspiring Black Flower Farmers + Florists and John Caleb Pendleton of Planks & Pistils floral studio in Chicago, IL. The two will discuss the state of Black artists and their experiences in the floral industry.
“We are incredibly excited to once again see and share the creativity and floral artistry of these inspiring, local and regional designers. Art in Bloom is the most beautiful way to kick off the spring season. We welcome guests to explore the abundance of bloom throughout the IMA Galleries, The Lilly House and of course The Garden at Newfields.” said Jonathan Wright, The Ruth Lilly Director of The Garden and Fairbanks Park.
Guests interested in learning more about the floral designers should attend the Meet The Designer Happy Hour on Friday, March 24 where they will be able to meet the 2023 florists and ask them about their process for their display.
To round out the weekend, Newfields will host the Art in Bloom Drag Brunch in partnership with Indy Pride. Guests will enjoy lively performances, beautiful florals and a delicious brunch all hosted by emcee Halle Pino. After the show, guests will be able to explore the IMA Galleries to experience Art in Bloom. You can find more details and pricing for the brunch here.
