Plainfield’s Hendricks Live! is keeping the excitement rolling into the holiday season with the announcement of Science Claus with Rick Crosslin & Keith Ramsey, happening Saturday, November 29 at 2 p.m. The interactive family show promises a mix of history, laughter, and jaw-dropping experiments that make science come alive.
This year marks the 200th anniversary of the very first Holiday Science Lectures at London’s Royal Institution, where legendary scientist Michael Faraday first wowed young audiences with the science of candlelight in 1825. For the first time, children were invited to experience live science demonstrations—an event that changed science education forever.
Carrying on that tradition, Indiana science educator Rick Crosslin and chemist Keith Ramsey will step on stage in full 1825 attire, recreating Faraday’s sense of wonder for a modern audience. Families can expect dramatic explosions, glowing reactions, and even a playful holiday twist with the song “The Twelve Days of Science Claus.”
Highlights of the one-hour program include:
Rick Crosslin’s crowd favorites like Liquid Nitrogen Fun and the Elephant Toothpaste Volcano, showing how science can be even more dazzling than magic.
Keith Ramsey’s dynamic chemistry stunts, including the Smoke Vortex and Flaming Hands, bringing the laws of physics and chemistry to life.
Each experiment is paired with an explanation, giving kids and parents alike the chance to understand the science behind the spectacle. The result is an immersive holiday experience designed to spark curiosity and inspire a love of learning.
Since opening in spring 2024, Hendricks Live! has quickly become west central Indiana’s premier destination for concerts, community events, and cultural performances. Science Claus continues the venue’s mission of offering something for audiences of all ages.
