Newfields’ Total Eclipse of the Art Celebrates Indy as Eclipse Capital of the Midwest

Newfields: A Place for Nature & the Arts will host a one-day spectacular, “Total Eclipse of the Art,” on April 8, 2024, celebrating this phenomenal display of nature during the total solar eclipse. At 3:06 PM, Indianapolis will be one of only a handful of places worldwide blanketed in the “path of totality” during a total solar eclipse, the likes of which won’t visit the Circle City again until 2153.

Locals and visitors alike will gather during the can’t-miss “Great American Eclipse” to enjoy this celestial event in the most beautiful place in the city, minutes from downtown. Newfields is the spot to be on this one-day-only event and won’t be shadowed by any other venue in the path of totality for the #SolarEclipse2024.

Access to Total Eclipse of the Art is the best of what Newfields has to offer: extraordinary art, natural beauty, curated cuisine, bespoke beverages and musical performances tailored to this celestial event. There will be unique and unexpected entertainment options both indoors and out, catering to all.

“This spring’s solar eclipse will totally transform Newfields, blending art and nature like never before. Following seasonal festivals like Harvest Nights and Winterlights, time and again Newfields delivers exceptional experiences, especially when darkness falls. This festival will be an astronomically good time for everyone and an unforgettable, communal moment.” said Jonathan Berger, VP of Marketing External Affairs.

Guests will choose from three ticket options to spread out across Newfields’ campus. The Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields will be open all day for guests to explore all four floors. Bring your blanket and pick your spot. Throughout the day enjoy activities; multiple DJs; fire and light shows; concessions; performances on the Dudley and Mary Louise Sutphin Mall, the Recreation Lawn, Lilly Terrace, and a main stage on The Amphitheater and much more! In The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park enjoy grounding, yoga and sun salutations, forest bathing and more.

Additional details, information and vendors, including the day’s headlining band, will be announced in the coming months! Keep checking discovernewfields.org/eclipse for the newest updates and announcements.
