After two successful years, the evening of dance films at Kan-Kan Cinema in Indianapolis returns with a new name. Indy Dance Film Fest spotlights short dance films from across the entire U.S., tapping into the country’s vast array of talented filmmakers and performers with a passion for dance.
Indy Dance Film Film showcases a brand-new assortment of 10 short dance films at Kan-Kan Cinema on January 27, 2026. Presented by the Indy Dance Council, it’s an evening celebrating the intersection of dance and cinema, featuring both local and national performers, choreographers, and directors. This beloved annual event invites audiences to experience dance from new angles and encourages innovation and experimentation.
Previous years’ line-ups have included talent from Indianapolis Ballet, Dance Kaleidoscope, Butler University, Indiana University, Seda Negra/Black Silk Dance Company, Strive Dance Company, Indy Movement Arts Collective, and more, showcasing the rich dance landscape the state has to offer. With the national scope of the festival’s submissions, Indy audiences have the opportunity to discover new voices and experience the dynamic range of human movement in film.
