Indianapolis Cultural Trail hosts Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza this Friday

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail announced today that the first Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza is this Friday, June 26 from 7:00-10:00 p.m. with live music by Son de Esquina and a beginner-friendly dance lesson with Jen Gaskill.

Viernes Cultural, a celebration of Latin culture, is free to attend and includes live music, dance, and food and drink in a festive, family-friendly atmosphere. This year, Viernes Cultural will occur June 26 and September 25.

Viernes Cultural is a marquee program of Circle City Summer, a free, engaging and unique series of public programs available for all at multiple public spaces downtown connected by the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick. Opportunities range from live music and fitness classes to yoga for all ages. A calendar of opportunities is available at downtownIndy.org/events/calendar. 

“Viernes Cultural exemplifies our mission to create, inspire, and sustain connections and cultural experiences that are accessible to all” said Kären Haley, executive director of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. “Everyone is invited to participate in the wide variety of activities and cultural experiences that are available on the Cultural Trail this summer, including simply taking a bike ride or walking on the Cultural Trail itself.”

Circle City Summer is made possible in part by a partnership with the City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development and Downtown Indy Alliance as well as through several community organizations and local businesses that help lead programs. Additionally, the dance lesson at Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza is supported by Indiana Donor Network and the International Center Festival Fund.
