Looking for a fun, active way to experience Indianapolis this summer? The Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. is inviting residents and visitors alike to discover the city from a new perspective with its 2026 series of free guided community bike rides.
Running from June through September, the popular ride series showcases how easy and enjoyable it can be to navigate Indianapolis by bicycle. Participants will explore vibrant neighborhoods, cultural attractions, public spaces, and scenic greenways, all connected by the 10-mile Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick.
Designed with beginner and casual riders in mind, the rides range from four to ten miles and focus on building confidence while creating opportunities for social connection and community engagement. Whether you're a longtime cyclist or dusting off your bike for the first time in years, there's a ride designed for you.
This year, the Indianapolis Cultural Trail is introducing two exciting new themed rides to the lineup.
Pedal & Play is a family-friendly adventure that encourages children and caregivers to explore Indianapolis together. The ride visits parks, playgrounds, public spaces, and other kid-friendly destinations throughout the city, making it a perfect weekend outing for families.
Nature enthusiasts will enjoy Bikes & Blooms, a guided ride led by members of the Cultural Trail's horticulture and landscape team. Participants will learn about the native gardens and seasonal plantings that line the trail while experiencing some of Indianapolis' most beautiful urban green spaces.
Returning favorites include the popular Bikes & Bakeries rides, which combine cycling with visits to local bakeries, as well as Roast Rides, which highlight Indianapolis coffee shops and café culture. The ever-popular No Spandex Required rides continue every Saturday, offering a relaxed and welcoming environment for riders who prefer fun over competition.
The community ride series is made possible through the support of the PNC Foundation, whose investment helps expand access to outdoor recreation, wellness, and community-building opportunities throughout Indianapolis.
"Strong communities are built when people have opportunities to connect with one another and with the places they call home," said Jason Eckerle, PNC Regional President of Central and Southern Indiana. "We're proud to support a program that makes outdoor recreation accessible while encouraging exploration, wellness, and a greater sense of belonging throughout Indianapolis."
According to Kären Haley, Executive Director of Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc., the rides offer far more than just exercise.
"Every day, we see how the Cultural Trail and Pacers Bikeshare transform the way people experience Indianapolis," Haley said. "These rides are about much more than recreation. They're about helping people feel connected to their city, discover new places, meet new people, and build confidence on two wheels. Thanks to the PNC Foundation's support, we're able to make these experiences free and accessible for everyone."
