On January 31, the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra welcomes acclaimed violinist Tim Fain for the premiere of composer Michael Shapiro’s Violin Concerto, At the Shore of the Sea.
ICO will also premiere Zoomies!, a playful new work inspired by the unpredictable energy we love in our pets. Join us at the Schrott Center for the Arts as Fain’s dazzling virtuosity combines with the ICO’s lush sound in a program inspired by the breathtaking view of the sea. The evening also features Mendelssohn’s The Hebrides (inspired by the beauty of Scotland’s coastline) and his Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 11. Whether you’re a devoted classical fan or attending your first concert, you won’t want to miss the opportunity to hear one of the world’s leading violinists live in Indianapolis!
Violinist and composer Tim Fain, hailed by Vanity Fair as one who “plays like a virtuoso and thinks like a cinematographer,” is celebrated for his electrifying performances, innovative compositions, and seamless integration of technology and music. A featured soloist with major orchestras worldwide, he has appeared on Grammy-nominated and Oscar-winning soundtracks including Black Swan, 12 Years a Slave, Moonlight, and HBO’s Succession, while his original scores have been recognized at festivals such as Venice, Sundance, Rotterdam, and Göteborg. A frequent collaborator with Philip Glass and artists across genres, Fain continues to redefine the concert experience through boundary-pushing concert works, film music, and immersive multimedia projects seen by audiences around the world.
