Five historic churches will be featured on Indiana Landmarks’ 2025 Holiday Church Tour, a Dec. 6th exploration in and around Indianapolis’s historic Mapleton-Fall Creek neighborhood, highlighting the architecture, history and preservation of sacred spaces, some decorated for the holidays.
The self-directed tour allows participants to go at their own pace for an inside look at five outstanding houses of worship, all open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.: Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, New Circle Church, Trinity Episcopal Church, Phillips Temple CME Church, and Broadway United Methodist Church.
Learn about the architectural features and history of each house of worship from representatives on site—including recently completed restoration work at Broadway United Methodist, aided by a $400,000 grant from Indiana Landmarks’ Sacred Places Indiana Fund, and new initiatives at Phillips Temple and New Circle sparked by Sacred Places Indiana’s New Dollars/New Partners program. Visitors should allow at least 2 hours to enjoy the full experience.
Tourgoers are responsible for their own transportation between stops. Parking is available at all sites but may be limited. Street parking is available on most surrounding streets. Interiors of all sites are accessible via ramp and elevator. (For more information, contact tourism@indianalandmarks.org.)
Indiana Landmarks presents this tour in partnership with area congregations, and a portion of the proceeds benefit Indiana Landmarks’ Sacred Places Indiana program.
