Concerts on the Canal

Downtown Indianapolis is set to come alive once again with the return of a beloved summer tradition. The Indiana Historical Society (IHS) invites music lovers to experience Concerts on the Canal, presented by the OneAmerica Financial Foundation, running from May 15 through August 7 at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center.

Held every other Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., Concerts on the Canal offers an exciting series of performances featuring some of Central Indiana’s most dynamic musical talent. Guests will enjoy a wide variety of genres — from classic rock and country to disco, pop, R&B, and swingin’ lounge vibes — making it a must-visit destination for anyone looking to enjoy live music under the summer sky.

This year’s stellar lineup includes:

  • May 15 — The Bishops (High-energy, multi-genre hits)

  • May 29 — Cool City Band (Swingin’ music of the lounge era)

  • June 12 — The Beatless (A celebration of The Beatles and rock & roll)

  • June 26 — Tastes Like Chicken (Rock, pop, R&B, and disco)

  • July 10 — My Yellow Rickshaw (Top 40, rock, country)

  • July 24 — Big 80’s (’80s tribute band)

  • August 7 — Groove Essential (Dance hits)

Guests can reserve seating on the Kruse Family Stardust Terrace, with tables available for eight ($90/$70 for IHS members) or four ($65/$45 for IHS members). Full-season packages are also available. Please note that event reservations are non-transferable and no rain checks will be issued.

To ensure an enjoyable and safe experience, pets and smoking are not permitted on the Terrace, and seating is restricted to designated areas due to the ongoing construction of the new Indiana State Archives building.

The Stardust Terrace Café and cash bar, operated by Jonathan Byrd’s, open at 5 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and nonalcoholic beverages; however, all alcoholic beverages must be purchased and consumed onsite.

In addition to attending, community members are encouraged to volunteer at Concerts on the Canal. Volunteers are needed from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. to assist with setup, tear down, and visitor services. Those interested can call (317) 233-3902 or email volunteers@indianahistory.org.

While attending, guests are also invited to explore the Indiana Historical Society’s exhibits, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with general admission.
