Civic Theatre Announces Its 112th Season: A Celebration of Community, Live Performance and Bold New Works

Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre proudly announces its 112th Season, continuing a long-standing tradition of bringing exceptional live theatre to Central Indiana audiences. The upcoming season promises a dynamic lineup of bold new works, beloved classics, hilarious musical theatre – and a surprise! – reflecting Civic’s commitment to artistic excellence, education, and community connection.


The 112th Season will include:

ALANIS MORISSETTE’S JAGGED LITTLE PILL, THE MUSICAL

Inspired by the groundbreaking album, Civic will open the season with ALANIS MORISSETTE’S JAGGED LITTLE PILL, THE MUSICAL, a powerful and electrifying musical about a modern family navigating love, identity, addiction and healing in an increasingly complicated world. The show features iconic songs including “You Oughta Know,” “Hand in My Pocket,” and “Ironic.” This Tony Award-winning musical delivers an unforgettable theatrical experience filled with raw emotion, stunning choreography, and a message of resilience and hope. Bold, contemporary, and deeply human, JAGGED LITTLE PILL speaks to generations searching for connection and truth.


ANNIE

For the holidays, Civic will present one of the world’s most beloved musicals. ANNIE is a heartwarming classic filled with unforgettable songs, timeless characters, and unstoppable optimism. Set in 1930s New York City, the story follows spirited young orphan Annie as she embarks on an adventure that changes her life — and the lives of everyone around her. Featuring iconic favorites like “Tomorrow,” “Hard Knock Life,” and “Maybe,” ANNIE is a joyful celebration of hope, family, and perseverance that will delight audiences of all ages.


SURPRISE!!

To kick off 2027, Civic will introduce its audiences to a fun, new comedy. Stay tuned for an announcement of the title in October!


STEEL MAGNOLIAS

Filled with sharp humor, heartfelt moments, and enduring friendship, STEEL MAGNOLIAS celebrates the strength and resilience of the women who support one another through life’s joys and heartbreaks. Set in a small-town Louisiana beauty salon, this beloved play follows a close-knit group of women whose laughter, love, and unwavering bonds carry them through triumph and tragedy alike. Warm, funny, and deeply moving, STEEL MAGNOLIAS is a timeless story about community, courage, and the power of friendship.


MEAN GIRLS

Based on the hit film and packed with high-energy songs, sharp comedy, and plenty of pink, MEAN GIRLSfollows Cady Heron as she navigates the wild social hierarchy of high school for the very first time. As she becomes entangled with the infamous Plastics, Cady learns that fitting in can come at a surprising cost. Funny, fearless, and fetch in every way, MEAN GIRLS is a wildly entertaining musical about friendship, identity, and staying true to yourself.

Founded in 1915, Civic Theatre is one of the nation’s longest continuously operating community theatres and has become a cornerstone of the Central Indiana arts landscape. The organization continues to serve thousands of audience members, students, artists, and volunteers each year through productions, educational programs, and outreach initiatives.
