The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis is turning 100—and they’re throwing the ultimate birthday bash to kick off the next century of wonder. On Thursday, August 22, the Second Century Soiree, presented by Purdue University, will transform the world’s largest children’s museum into a black-tie, adults-only celebration filled with surprises, nostalgia, and unforgettable experiences.
This one-night-only fundraiser promises to be the museum’s most spectacular event yet, with special guests, live entertainment, cultural performances, immersive experiences, and themed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres waiting around every corner. Guests can explore all exhibits in a whole new light, from a dazzling fashion show in Take Me There®: Peru to an epic silent disco under the towering dinos in Dinosphere®. The Centennial Ferris Wheel will be spinning well into the night, lit in brilliant colors for a perfect photo op.
Attendees will also enjoy exclusive behind-the-scenes opportunities, including conversations with civil rights icon Ruby Bridges, AIDS activist Jeanne White Ginder (mother of Ryan White), visiting artists and scientists—and even an astronaut. Guests can learn how the museum uses cutting-edge technology, from 3D fossil scanning to VR-designed exhibits, and get a sneak peek at how beloved galleries will be reimagined for the next 100 years.
The evening will end with a grand outdoor finale, as Rex and Indianapolis’ sports mascots lead guests to a breathtaking drone show, painting the night sky with light, motion, and magic.
“As we commemorate 100 years of sparking memories, wonders, and dreams, the Second Century Soiree marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter into our next 100,” said Jennifer Pace Robinson, president and CEO of The Children’s Museum. “We look forward to a special and unforgettable evening that reflects the museum’s mission to ignite joy, wonder and curiosity. Your support empowers us to continue inspiring generations to come.”
All proceeds from the event will benefit the museum’s Second Century Vision plan, which includes major new exhibits, innovative programming, and expanded community outreach to serve more children and families than ever before.
Tickets for the Second Century Soiree are on sale now, but space is limited. This is your chance to relive the joy of childhood—with a grown-up twist—while helping shape the museum’s next century of impact.
