The Indianapolis Zoo celebrated Sumatran orangutan Edi's first birthday on Friday, Feb. 20, in the Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center.
Keepers showered Edi with love in a party complete with decorations, enrichment and a special treat. Guests particpated by signing a happy birthday card.
Edi spends a majority of his time with his mother, Sirih, but is growing in confidence and curiosity every day. He is starting to venture further away from his mom to explore his habitat and play with his older sister, Mila.
Edi was born at the Indianapolis Zoo to Sirih and his father, Basan. His name was chosen by guests through a naming contest. Zoo Babies proudly presented by Primrose Schools.
