Indianapolis Cultural Trail hosts final Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza of 2025 this Friday

Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. announced that Son de Esquina will headline the final Viernes Cultural: Latin Night at Lugar Plaza of 2025 on Friday, September 26 from 7:00 - 10:00 pm. Viernes Cultural is free to attend and includes live music by Son de Esquina, a beginner-friendly Bachata lesson by Jen Gaskill, and food and drink options. All are welcome to attend this family-friendly and festive celebration of Latin culture along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick.  

In its third year, Viernes Cultural has been a resounding success throughout the summer, celebrating with more than 1,300 attendees across four months. Friday’s Viernes Cultural will bring the Indianapolis community together once again at Lugar Plaza for an evening of music, dancing, and community connection.

“Viernes Cultural exemplifies our mission to create and inspire and sustain connections and cultural experiences that are accessible to all” said Kären Haley, Executive Director of the Indianapolis Cultural Trail. “Everyone is invited to enjoy live music by Son de Esquina, free bachata dance lessons, food trucks and free fun for all ages in one of the largest public spaces along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail”

The beginner-friendly bachata lesson with Jen Gaskill will start at 7:00 PM. Food and beverages will be available for purchase starting at 6:30 p.m. from The Garnacha Spot, Paco’s Taqueria, and Just Call Kate Mobile Libations.

"Three years of Viernes Cultural truly reflects what makes our downtown special,” said Iris Dillon, Administrator of Programming & Public Use for City of Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development. “Active, inclusive, and welcoming public spaces are essential for people to gather, connect, and enjoy. What better way to do that than through music? We are ecstatic to celebrate the final Viernes Cultural at Lugar Plaza."

Lugar Plaza is located along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail at 200 E. Washington Street, in front of the City County Building and across the street from the Julia M. Carson Transit Center. Registration for Viernes Cultural is encouraged. Attendees are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the concert.
