The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis

If the last time you visited The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis was when you were single digits, it’s time to check out the world’s largest children’s museum again in a whole new way – adults-only style!

After Dark: Mardi Gras Masquerade is Friday, April 24 from 7-10:30 p.m. for the kids at heart only! Experience The Children’s Museum after hours in this 21+ event that encapsulates the vibrant spirit of New Orleans in a Mardi Gras celebration like no other in the city.

Leave the kiddos at home as you enjoy live music from Groovesmash, a traditional second line parade, plenty of photo opportunities, themed food and drink (for an additional cost), bourbon and hot sauce tastings, and explore some of our brand-new exhibits like Tiana’s Joyful Celebration and Take Me There: Peru and relive a longtime fan favorite, Dinosphere.

Costumes are encouraged but not required! Think Mardi Gras masks, lots of sparkles and beaded necklaces, with colors of gold, purple, or green. Don't have a Mardi Gras mask at home? There will be a mask making station available to design, customize, and wear your very own mask throughout the evening to get into the New Orleans spirit.

Food and drinks are sold separately. There will be four food stations with two options at each, and a paired featured cocktail that fits the food at that station. All food is themed for New Orleans/Mardi Gras with an emphasis on Cajun and southern flavors – think hearty gumbo, hush puppies, beignets, and colorful drink creations. Mocktails will also be available.

Tickets are $45 for members and $50 for nonmembers. To purchase tickets for After Dark: Mardi Gras Masquerade, please click here.

Laissez les bons temps rouler – let the good times roll!
