Anderson Area Youth to Present Two Free Holiday Concerts in One Weekend

The Anderson Area Children’s Choir (AACC) will be a part of two concerts this holiday season to bring free cheer to the area the weekend of December 5. The organization will present its own concert and be a part of a longstanding tradition at Anderson University as well. Singing is a great way to bring holiday cheer and these concerts aren’t to be missed!

“Both of these annual traditions mean so much to our singers and families, and the community as a whole,” explained Amy Hughley, Associate Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, and Director of the AACC high school ensemble. “Our singers as young as first grade all the way through high school have been working on their holiday songs for months and cannot wait to share them during this special time of year.”

The AACC will be a part of the Candles & Carols concert with Anderson University Music Department Ensembles on December 5. The public is not only invited to the free celebration of festive music but will also be asked to be a part of the singing of traditional carols too.

Then on December 7, the AACC will present its own stand-alone concert Readings & Carols at Anderson First United Methodist Church. The audience can expect many songs that reflect the season accompanied by musicians and complimentary readings.

Each of the AACC’s ensembles will participate in the concerts, giving children in the Preparatory Choir for 1^st-3^rd graders, the Concert Choir for 4^th grade and up, and the high school Youth Chorale the opportunity to sing for community members. Both holiday performances prove to be popular year after year, and the public are always invited to join in on the tradition. Each concert is free and open to the public, and early arrival is suggested to secure a seat.
