The National Bank of Indianapolis Summer Nights Film Series returns this summer, marking half a century of flicks and fun. This year’s lineup will feature over fifty films, spanning across the decades with timeless classics to recent hits and innovative short films, giving everyone a chance to escape into a world of film.
The National Bank of Indianapolis Summer Nights Film Series began under the tenure of Robert Yassin, who served as Director of the Indianapolis Museum of Art from 1963 through 1991. To commemorate the 50-year anniversary, this year’s lineup will kick off with a showing of Top Hat, which was one of the first films shown as part of the event. "Since joining the Summer Nights Film Series team in 1999—from selling popcorn and tickets to selecting the films-- I have seen firsthand the ways in which this beloved tradition brings people together,” said Lindsay Hamman, Director of Public Programming at Newfields. “I’ve watched first dates and proposals unfold, welcomed groups of friends who return each year with pristinely curated picnics and cherish the collective reactions of our audiences- the sighs, laughter and delight of watching a film for the first or fifteenth time—shared moments at the heart of this summer series.”
The National Bank of Indianapolis has been sponsoring Summer Nights for thirty years. In 1996, the organization became the sole sponsor of the event, and their support is still present today. Their commitment has made the last thirty years of movies and magic possible and has officially earned them the title of Newfield’s longest-running sponsorship.
“The National Bank of Indianapolis’ continued partnership with Newfields reflects our commitment to supporting local institutions. We are pleased to once again sponsor Summer Nights Film Series during their 50th Anniversary celebration, as it highlights the long-lasting joy of connecting with the community partners, family and our friends,” said Amandula Anderson, First Vice President & Manager, Nonprofit Services at The National Bank of Indianapolis. “I’m looking forward to being under the stars to enjoy some movie classics this summer.”
