The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir will celebrate the city’s rich jazz history with Mood Indigo, a special 90th-season performance taking place Saturday, October 10, at the historic Madam Walker Legacy Center.
Set along Indiana Avenue—once the center of Indianapolis’ thriving jazz scene—the concert will honor the music, history and creative spirit that helped establish the city as an important destination for the genre.
Mood Indigo will also recognize Dr. Michael Davis’ 25th anniversary as the Choir’s assistant artistic director. During his tenure, Davis has helped shape the organization’s artistic vision and advance its tradition of presenting choral music that connects with the broader Indianapolis community.
For the performance, the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir will be joined by acclaimed New York jazz guitarists Frank Vignola and Vinny Raniolo. Known for their musicianship and dynamic onstage chemistry, the pair will bring an additional layer of jazz artistry to the anniversary concert.
Mood Indigo is free and open to the public, although advance registration is encouraged.
Following the performance, guests can continue the celebration at the Jazz Soirée at the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library. The gathering will feature live jazz, cocktails and conversation with performers, audience members and friends of the Choir.
The combination of Mood Indigo and the Jazz Soirée offers audiences an opportunity to experience Indianapolis’ enduring jazz legacy in two culturally significant spaces. The evening also connects the Choir’s 90-year history with the sounds and stories that have shaped the city’s identity.
Mood Indigo and the Jazz Soirée take place Saturday, October 10, 2026. For concert details and free registration, visit the Mood Indigo event page. Information and tickets for the post-concert celebration are available on the Jazz Soirée event page.
