The Indianapolis Men’s Chorus is beginning its 37th season with a new organizational home at Butler University, marking a significant milestone in the ensemble’s continued growth.

Through a new partnership, the chorus has joined the Butler Arts Collaborative and moved its administrative offices and regular rehearsals to Lilly Hall. The collaboration connects the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus with other arts organizations on Butler’s campus while creating opportunities for shared resources, education, artistic collaboration and community engagement.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus to the Butler Arts Collaborative,” said Aaron Hurt, vice president for Arts, Events and Enterprise Management at Butler University. “The Collaborative is about bringing arts organizations together in an environment where relationships and new ideas can grow.”

The move comes during one of the most transformative periods in the chorus’s history. The organization has grown from approximately 50 singers several years ago to more than 100 today. Its performances, community partnerships and organizational capacity have also expanded.

“This move is a significant next step that supports the rapid growth of the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus,” said Steve Hamilton, president of the IMC Board of Directors. “Having a home that provides both the physical space we need today and opportunities to build relationships within a larger arts community gives IMC an extraordinary foundation for its future.”

Lilly Hall will serve as the center of the chorus’s administrative and rehearsal activities. However, the ensemble will continue performing at venues throughout Indianapolis and collaborating with arts, cultural and community organizations across Central Indiana.

The Butler Arts Collaborative is designed to bring arts organizations into closer relationships with Butler University and one another. The addition of the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus could lead to new connections involving the chorus, Butler students and faculty members, and other organizations based on campus.

“Some of the most exciting possibilities are the ones we don’t know about yet,” said Greg Sanders, artistic director of the Indianapolis Men’s Chorus. “When musicians, educators, students and arts organizations are sharing a campus and building relationships with one another, opportunities emerge organically.”

The partnership also provides Butler students with another connection to an established Indianapolis arts organization while placing the chorus within a larger environment dedicated to artistic exploration, education and public engagement.

The move coincides with the launch of IMC’s Next Chapter initiative, which is focused on developing the infrastructure and resources needed to support the organization’s future. Nearly four decades after a small group of singers first came together to create a place for their voices in Indianapolis, the chorus enters its newest season with a growing presence in the city’s cultural community.

The Indianapolis Men’s Chorus began rehearsing at Butler University in September. Its 2026–27 season will include concerts and special events at venues throughout Indianapolis.
