Joey Amato | January 10, 2020

The Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra (ICO) and Music Director Matthew Kraemer present a compelling story in the performance of Michael Daugherty’s Trail of Tears on Saturday, January 25 at 7:30 pm. The program features renowned flute soloist Amy Porter in a program entitled “Dominance and Defiance,” with additional works by Shostakovich and Beethoven.

Audiences will be mesmerized by Daugherty’s Trail of Tears, a dramatic flute concerto depicting the forced removal of Native Americans from their ancestral lands during the 1930s. Also on the program is Shostakovich’s dark and striking Chamber Symphony, and, Beethoven’s nostalgic Symphony No. 8, celebrating the illustrious composer’s 250th birthday.

The January 25th performance includes a pre-concert talk with Maestro Kraemer beginning at 6:45 p.m. and a free post-concert reception in the Schrott lobby. Tickets range from $25-$40 for adults and $10 for students. Group discounts are available.
