Artists from across Hamilton County are taking over the galleries of the Fishers Art & Municipal Complex this September as the Fishers Arts Council presents its seventh annual Juried Exhibit of Hamilton County Artists.
Sponsored by Jiffy Lube of Indiana, the exhibition features 75 works of art, including 64 two-dimensional pieces and 11 three-dimensional creations. The expansive showcase fills the Art Gallery at City Hall as well as both gallery spaces inside the Fishers Art Center.
The participating artists were selected by juror Carol Strock Wasson, a distinguished artist known for her work in pastel, oil painting and monotype printing. Recognized as an Eminent Pastelist by the International Association of Pastel Societies, Strock Wasson draws inspiration from the rural landscapes surrounding her home.
Her work explores color, shape and design through both plein air and studio practices. She also shares her artistic expertise through instruction at Strockwasson Studio and online courses, emphasizing fundamentals such as composition, color theory and design.
This marks the seventh consecutive year that Jiffy Lube of Indiana has served as the exhibit’s title sponsor, continuing its support of artists and arts programming throughout Hamilton County. Additional awards are sponsored by Wasson Nursery, Renewal by Andersen, Noblesville Creates, Sunrise Café and Five Star Bath Solutions.
Noblesville Creates is also sponsoring the People’s Choice Award, giving members of the public an opportunity to select their favorite work. Visitors may vote in person at the gallery or participate online by “liking” their preferred artwork on the Fishers Arts Council Facebook page. All votes must be received by 7 p.m. on September 11.
The community is invited to meet the featured artists during a free Second Friday reception on September 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. The evening will include refreshments and live music by Ivan Moreland. Award winners will be announced at 7:15 p.m. inside the Fishers Municipal Center Theater, located just off the gallery.
The galleries are located at 1 Municipal Drive in Fishers and are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Visitors can also view the exhibition on Saturdays during the Fishers Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to noon.
Those unable to attend in person can explore the juried exhibit through the online gallery at Facebook.com/FishersArt. Additional information about the Fishers Arts Council is available at fishersartscouncil.org.
