Destination Indy, a new multimedia platform dedicated to showcasing the arts, entertainment, dining and culture that make Indianapolis one of the Midwest’s most dynamic cities, officially launches its new website and print magazine, providing residents and visitors with a new way to discover the best of the city’s arts, entertainment, dining and cultural scene.
DestinationIndy.com brings together original stories, event coverage, dining recommendations, arts and cultural news, entertainment features and insider perspectives designed to inspire audiences to explore Indianapolis and Central Indiana. Some key features of the new website include: Audition Call-Outs, Galas/Fundraisers, Classes & Camps, a comprehensive Arts Event Calendar and Dining Suggestions.
“Indianapolis has an incredible story to tell, and Destination Indy was created to help tell that story in a bigger, more connected way,” said Michael Schaefer, CEO of Destination Indy. “There is so much happening across our city—from the arts and live entertainment to restaurants, festivals, museums and the creative people behind them. Destination Indy gives all of these stories a home and makes it easier for people to discover what’s happening right here in their own backyard.”
The Destination Indy website serves as an evolving resource for discovering what to see, do, experience and enjoy throughout Indianapolis. The site features a growing collection of original editorial content covering arts and culture, entertainment, dining, events and the people and organizations contributing to the city’s creative identity.
The bi-annual print magazine expands on that editorial mission with curated stories and features designed to give readers a deeper look at the destinations, experiences and personalities that define Indianapolis.
Destination Indy is designed to serve both longtime Indianapolis residents looking for something new and visitors seeking authentic experiences beyond the city’s traditional attractions.
“Destination Indy’s website is about discovery,” said Joe Whipple, Chief Technology Officer of Destination Indy. “We want people to discover a new restaurant, an artist they’ve never heard of, a performance they didn’t know was happening, a neighborhood they haven’t explored or an organization making a difference in our community. By bringing these components together, we can help strengthen the connection between Indianapolis and the people who live, work and visit here.”
Expanding to Television
The launch of the website and magazine represents the first two major components of Destination Indy’s broader multimedia strategy.
Destination Indy will expand its storytelling to television through a new weekly 30-minute television program produced in partnership with WISH-TV, WNDY and WISHNet launching Sunday, August 23 on WISH/WNDY. Tune in at 2:30pm on WNDY to catch the first episode.
The program will showcase Indianapolis through a dynamic mix of interviews, restaurant features, event coverage, arts and entertainment segments, local personalities and insider perspectives.
Production on the series is underway.
“The television show will take the Destination Indy mission to an entirely new audience,” said Joey Amato, Publisher of Destination Indy. “Our goal is to create a platform that celebrates the people and organizations that make Indianapolis special while encouraging viewers to get out and experience the city for themselves.”
The television partnership is part of Destination Indy’s larger vision of connecting digital, print and broadcast media to create greater visibility for Indianapolis’ creative economy.
